Polluted water kills more people each year than war and all other forms of violence combined.
Natural water is a source of life and joy. But as society grows we are losing this resource to effluent and toxic waste. Society has progressed in such a way that it’s become more profitable for industries to dump their toxic waste into waterways than clean it up, and so as a result society absorbs the cost of polluted water.
Less than 1% of the world’s freshwater is drinkable.
There is a health cost for communities that are exposed to contaminated water.
There’s the loss of tourism and sports, as water events are cancelled and tourism decreases due to polluted areas.
There is a municipal cost to clean water and an overall cost to our mental well-being.Although the situation looks bleak, Bio-Aire believes that there is hope. We can give our children the joy of swimming in clean wild water.
The Solution
We are a group of engineers and scientists who have developed a system that mimics nature to clean water. Bio-Aire mimics river flow by aerating and removing nutrients from polluted water, so that nature’s processes can start cleaning the water itself in a simple and cost-effective manner.
How?
Bio-Aire breathes life back into water, literally.
Our starting point is that we should be working with nature and not at odds with it. This has lead us to apply our technical knowledge to create a water treatment system that mimics nature by adding oxygen and using fixed biofilms to clean the polluted water so that nature can take over and do the rest.

About
Khubeka Construction is a Civil & Building Company established in June 2001. We specialise in the construction of water retaining structures, sewage and water treatment works. During 2016 while constructing waste treatment works, we saw a need for a cost-effective and efficient water aeration system, from 2016 to 2019 we developed our unique water treatment system and in 2020 began commercialising and selling the units.
Bio-Aire was borne out of seeing an inherent need to develop a water treatment system for the South African environment, although we designed our system for the harsh South African conditions it is also well suited for use worldwide.
Many of the current treatment systems are too complicated to operate, are power-intensive, and are prone to costly breakdowns and maintenance, which in most instances leads to water treatment systems not being used correctly or not being used at all.
Bio–Aire is unique in that it is cost-effective, efficient, easy to operate and deploy, and can be maintained and operated at an 80% reduced cost versus similar systems.
